Welcome to The Dog Groom. We are professional groomers based on the outskirts of Worcester offering the highest quality grooming service for all breeds of dogs in beautiful, tranquil and relaxed surroundings. We have clients from many local areas including Crowle, Droitwich, Hanbury, Inkberrow, Astwood Bank, Redditch, Worcester and even Cheltenham.

We have both had many years of experience with dogs, as pets in the home, breeding and offering a home from home dog lodging service. The Dog Groom is now in its 7th year.

We are City and Guilds trained with a Veterinary First Aid qualification and would welcome the opportunity to provide your dog with our caring and professional high quality service.

Grooming Styles

On arrival we will have a full consultation with you to discuss your requirements. The style you choose will depend on a few factors:

  1. How often you are willing to bring your dog to the salon;
  2. How willing you are to brush them at home between appointments;
  3. Your dog's lifestyle (i.e. town or country).

Clipped & Scissored

This trim retains the character of the breed but keeps the coat manageable. The body is clipped and the legs and tummy are scissored to the desired length.

The Clip Off

The majority of breeds can be groomed in this way and it is very practical for Country / Working dogs; we remove all long coat, feathers, skirts and trim down the legs and under the tummy. This is a style that needs minimal attention between appointments and is very suitable for the busy pet owner.

The Puppy Cut or 'Teddy Bear Trim'

A beautiful cut which leaves a long coat all over the body which looks extremely smart. This style is popular with full coated breeds such as the Cockapoo, Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise, however isn’t suitable for all breeds. This cut is a high maintenance trim, requiring lots of brushing by the owner and regular 4-6 weekly appointments.

Hand Stripping

Hand stripping means pulling the coat out by hand. If your dog has a very wiry coat it may be possible to hand strip it. The coat must be on its moulting cycle and be ready to be removed. Hand stripping helps to retain the texture and colour of the coat. The breed most suitable for hand stripping is the Border Terrier. For many breeds hand stripping would not be recommended. The procedure either needs to be carried out every few weeks as new hairs start to come through or every 6 months when the coat is ready to be removed.

Fully Qualified City & Guilds Groomers

We are fully trained groomers, and have passed work-based assessments of our grooming carried out by independent assessors, as well as passing a number of theory exams.

Terms & Conditions

Late Cancellations

Please give us a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to cancel your appointment, so that we have a chance to re-book the appointment - late cancellations will incur a charge of £10.00 per appointment.

Pick Up

If you are unable to collect your dog at the end of its groom, then we are happy to discuss later pick up, by arrangement.

Matted Coats

When your dog arrives we will assess its coat to identify the level of matting. If the dog is badly matted we will discuss approximately how long it will take for us to carry out the extra work. For dogs with seriously matted coats it is kinder to clip off the coat completely to avoid unnecessary discomfort and stress, and we will discuss this option with you at the time of consultation.

Old Dogs

Grooming is very tiring for all dogs, especially the older ones. It may be appropriate to style the dog in a different way that involves a shorter period, so that it is standing on the table for less time.

Old dogs should be collected promptly after the groom by their owners to keep stress to a minimum.
